East Zawtar lies somewhere in the south of Lebanon. Abu Qassem is known as the first farmer to propagate Za’atar for commercial harvest in Lebanon 19 years ago. He grows 13 varieties and some of the flowery version we see through our visit is called Za'atar Zubeiye. His blends are very popular that he exports tons of it to the gulf, Levant region and now also in the UK.

US Aid was the first country to support Abu Qassem’s unique farming business due to it’s cultural importance and to further support the practice of community building.
