This is a collaborative project with Egyptian Visual artist Hadeer Omar.

In conservative societies, many people have to resort to a clandestine social life in order to avoid judgment for personal choices they make. The individuality of choosing a career, sense of style and traveling alone, for example, touches upon our personal struggles as Arabs and women. Individuals do not represent solely themselves but rather, their family and tribal reputation.

This is a conceptual series that explores the duality of a life that looks flawless from the outside but begs to break free from the borders imposed by a patriarchal system. This series is about one’s inner search for freedom.
